Twin suicide bombings in the Moscow subway system!

Hello Bloggers!

Two female suicide bombers are responsible for the bombings in the Moscow subway system which has killed 39 commuters and injured many in yesterdays (29 March 2010) morning rush hour. Bombs went off on two separate subway stations (Lubyanka and Park Kultury) with 40 minutes apart. President Medvedev said "that those responsible for them will be found and destroyed". No group or terrorist organisation has claimed the responsibility for these attacks in Moscow, but Russian Authorities are blaming North Caucasus rebels as they were responsible for previous attacks between Moscow and St. Petersburg in November 2009.

The UN Security Council and the General Secretary, Ban Ki-moon have released a statement regarding the terrorist attacks, claiming that "terrorism in all forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threat to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation". The UN has also expressed their 'determination to combat all forms of terrorism".

What are your thoughts on the Moscow bombings? What do you think of female suicide bombers? Is a new trend emerging?

One man's terrorist is another woman's freedom fighter. If it turns out to be Chechneyan activists behind this, well consider how the West turned a blind eye to Russian military force being used in the Caucuses to keep them compliant- civilian casualties were dreadful! Does it matter whether a terrorist is male or female? Not in the slightest- except to make them more effective at avoiding detection. Nor did it matter if a freedom fighter in the ANC or PLO was female; and both South African and Palestine are acceptable concepts in international law today. We all fight our struggles the way we see fit. And, unlike many of those looking at the blog, I have actually travelled on the Moscow undergraound through those stations! We are all vulnerable to the use of force to achieve poltiical aims.

Suicide bombers in general have incredible personal, cultural and religious motivation for their actions. The motivation behind their actions have and continue to baffle scholars to such a degree that various lengthy studies have been and continue to be carried out, that attempt to understand the psychological factors that lead to their occurrence. It is not surprising that female suicide bombers, as in the Russian case, usually manage to shock the international community more, simply because of their gender. This may indicate the magnitude of the root issues at the heart of the inhabitants of the Caucuses, who may seek independence for instance. Suicide terrorism is not a new trend, rather an ongoing process, which has evolved with technology and time.

nowadays terrorist attacks are becoming more and more frequent. I think this is very shocking, because some nations rather use violence than putting up with the problem. Personally I think that terrorists believe that this is the most effective way to draw attention to a problem/conflict. Unfortunately I have to agree partly, because even though I read the newspaper I never really thought about this particular conflict. The terrorist attack awakened my interest.
I found out that doku umarow admitted that he was supporting this act.

It is claimed that religion, especially the islamic faith, is the motivation for terrorism. THIS IS WRONG! ISLAM DOES NOT ENCOURAGE TO KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE, NO RELIGION DOES. Many people are brain washed and it is all about politics (hegemony for example). In this society, anything can be expected of anyone, it does not matter whether these are woman or man. This is a war between MAN! THE WORLD, INCLUDING THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE WAR MUST STOP USING RELIGION FOR THEIR ACTIONS. PEOPLE MUST STOP TO SPRED LIES FOR THEIR ACTIONS!
