Osama Bin Laden: Theatens Revenge!

Hello Bloggers!
Osama Bin Laden has released a new video statement via Al-Jazeera, often called the mouthpiece of the Al Qaeda leader.
In this video Osama Bin Laden threatens to kill any captured Americans if the White House pulls through with their plan to execute Khalid Sheikh Mohammed one of the “masterminds behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks.”
Osama Bin Laden accuses Obama of stepping in the footsteps of Bush and escalating the war in Afghanistan. Osama also expresses his feelings towards the U.S. support towards Israel that has resulted in continuous U.S. occupation in Palestine. As to the White House, no direct comments were made regarding the threat but they have increased measures to destroy the Al Qaeda network.
What are your thoughts on this new threat? Should Americans be worried? Do you believe a terrorist attack like the 9/11 is likely to happen again in the U.S.?

We should be weary of any terrorist threat, or message from a leader like bin Laden. Although it is now (and has been for a long time) unclear whether bin Laden is still alive, any message from terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda should still be perceived as a real threats and dealt with accordingly. Whether or not another 9/11-like attack will eventuate is also unclear, yet governments and individuals should remain aware of the possibility of an attack. That being said, counter-terrorism measures and attitudes should not go so far as to breach the everyday habits and practices of civilians. If we all were to change the way we live because of a perceived threat, these behavioral changes could be largely interpreted as degrees of victory for the terrorist, who has now managed to alter and disturb the rhythm of life.

This is a never ending story and it is a shame because civilians are always the victims of terrorisms! I strongly believe that America will be at threat for many more years to come and attacks like the 9/11 cannot be ruled out. Al-Qaeda's highly tactical attacks in the past suggest that they will seek to attack again during Obama's ruling period; putting the new President to the test while the world watches helplessly!

I think that any terrorist threat should be taken seriously, but the best that the US government can do is to make sure that there are measures to protect civilians as much as possible. I don't believe that there should be negotiations with terrorists, because terrorists should not be empowered. Their aim is to scare people and so they must never be given the satisfaction. We can do our best to prevent attacks but once negotiations begin they are getting what they want. Threats should not be rewarded, and there are no guaruntees that they will not attack. There should be a team working to prevent attacks but everyone else should go on as usual.

There are still real and serious threats to the US from international terrorist organisations. Hence we as the public will have to urge to remain vigilant and carry on reporting suspicious events to the appropriate authorities and to support the police and security services in their continuing efforts to discover, track and disrupt terrorist activities.
If the public and the government improve and keep the tide controls we have in place against terrorist attacks I do not think something as major and big like 9/11 will reoccur.

We have to be aware that something like 9/11 will happen again. Through media we get all new informations about new attacks and videos and blood and dying people and hungry people and sick people and many more. But besides that it is crazy that for normal civilians like us,it is more dangerous than for our politicians. It is happening all over the world, i.e. yesterday in Russia. Even in Germany we get told to be aware of those attacks but come on lets face the truth when i sit it in the train in the morning, travelling to work, drinking my coffe, reading a newspaper articles - maybe about any new attacks, I am not aware off any terrorists around me. War gernerally sucks but this kind of war is gutless and sucks even more.

I also think that we shoud be aware of the fact that 9/11 can happen again, but that doesnt mean that we should call everyone who looks different a terrorist. I dont really think that we can protect ourselves or prevent a terrorist attack because the whole point of an attack is the unpredictability. Nevertheless some attacks were avoidable but I consider that as luck. I believe that some day terrorists will find a method to hide their arms, consequently they can pass the borders without being noticed.
